Tom Mediak scored both goals for visiting Nazareth in its ECAC West game against Hobart on Friday evening, which the Statesmen won 6-2. Hobart scored three goals in the final 6:24 of the second period to stretch a 2-1 edge into a 5-1 advantage.
Following the loss, the Golden Flyers fall to 5-11-1 overall and 0-7 in ECAC West Conference games. The Statesmen, ranked second nationally by D3hockey.com and third nationally by USCHO.com, improved to 14-1-2 overall and 6-0-1 in conference contests.

The score remained the same for over 10 minutes before the Statesmen strung together their three-goal run to end the period. Tommy Fiorentino, Frank Salituro, and Bronson Kovacs recorded the goals for Hobart. The goals by Salituro and Kovacs came on separate power play opportunities as Nazareth was whistled for two boarding penalties in a span of under four minutes.
In the third period Kovacs tallied his second goal of the game, which also came with the man advantage. During the course of the game, the Statesmen finished 4-6 (67 percent) on the power play to build their advantage.
Mediak found the back of the net with 11 seconds remaining in regulation to cut the final score to 6-2. Mediak's goal came on the power play. Freshmen
Scott Andler and Silvia were credited with the assists on Mediak's second goal. Friday's game was the sixth game of the season in which Mediak has played.
Mac Olson broke the scoreless tie just less than six minutes into the first period to put Hobart on the board. Olson's goal was short-handed as the Statesmen thwarted Nazareth's initial power play opportunities. Bo Webster extended Hobart's lead to two goals with 5:33 to play in the opening period. Webster's tally was the first power play goal of the game for the Statesmen.
Nazareth entered the contest ranked 10th nationally in power play success rate with a mark of 24.74 percent, and the Golden Flyers finished 1-6 (17 percent) with the extra man. Going into Friday's game, Hobart had already demonstrated its potent power play attack as the Statesmen stood one spot behind the Golden Flyers in converting power play opportunities with a success rate of 24.68.
Gladnick finished with a game-high 37 saves for Nazareth. Nick Broadwater tallied 16 saves in roughly 46 minutes of action, and he allowed one goal. Broadwater entered the game as the top-ranked goaltender in Division III with a save percentage of .955 percent and a goals-against average of 1.23. Lino Chimienti finished played the final 14 minutes of in Hobart's net and he allowed one goal and recorded five saves.
The Golden Flyers held an 11-9 edge in shots after the first period. Hobart took control in the second and third periods by outshooting Nazareth 34-12 in the final 40 minutes.
Nazareth returns to the Sports Centre at MCC to host 11th-ranked Manhattanville in another ECAC West contest on January 25th. The Golden Flyers are looking to avenge two November losses to Valiants in next week's game. Nazareth also hosts Neumann on the 26th at MCC.
