Nazareth falls to Ithaca in E8

WEST POINT, N.Y. -- Nazareth's women's tennis team competed against Ithaca in the Empire 8 Tournament semifinals on Saturday afternoon. Ithaca defeated Nazareth, 5-2 in the match, knocking Nazareth out of the tournament. Nazareth took points at first doubles and second singles.

Nazareth finishes the season 5-5 overall, and 5-2 in the conference play. Ithaca improves to 7-1 overall, and remains 6-1 in conference play. Ithaca and Stevens will play in the E8 title match Sunday at 10 a.m.

Sophomore Alison Tepas and junior Alex Vizgaitis won their doubles match against Ithaca's Allison Young and Becky Guzzo. The final score of the match was 8-6.

Tepas also won in singles against Ithaca's Carly Siegel. The match scores were 6-2, 6-3. Nazareth dropped a close match at second doubles as Ithaca's Becky Campbell and Carly Siegel defeated Christine Cary and Cara Yinger 9-8. Yinger also dropped a tough three-setter at fourth singles to Ithaca's Laurel Salladay 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.
