ROCHESTER, N. Y. -- Junior
Kristine Olijnyk scored four goals and added one assist and freshman
Erinn Wood added three goals and three assists Friday as Nazareth won its fourth straight women's lacrosse game, a 21-9 victory over visiting Hartwick.
The Golden Flyers improved to 8-4 overall and 4-1 in E8 games. Hartwick is 1-9 overall and 0-6 in conference play. The Golden Flyers host 13th-ranked Stevens Saturday at 3 p.m. Stevens defeated St. John Fisher 17-13 Friday.
Nazareth bolted to an 8-0 lead against the Hawks and were never seriously challenged thereafter. Olijnyk scored two of her goals in that opening flurry and also assisted on a goal by
Stephanie Cash. Junior
Michelle Cook also scored twice and had an assist on a goal by Olijnyk.
After
Nora Davis scored on an assist by Cash to make the score 8-0, Hartwick responded by scoring three of the next four goals to pull within 9-3.
Chelsey Amidon and Wood each scored for Nazareth before the first half ended and Hannah Kennedy scored for Hartwick to make it an 11-4 game at halftime.
Nazareth expanded its lead in the second half, scoring four of the first five goals of the half to build a 10-goal advantage, 15-5. Freshman
Alyssa Johnston opened the second-half scoring for the Golden Flyers. After Brittany LaVaute scored for Hartwick, Nazareth got consecutive goals from Olijnyk, Amidon and Davis to pull away.
Davis also finished with three goals for the Golden Flyers, while Cash and Cook each had two goals and two assists. Freshman
Megan Cregan also scored for Nazareth as did seniors
Alyssia Roberts and
Jennifer Young.
Nazareth had advantages in shots (39-25) and ground balls (20-16). Amidon and Davis each won five draw controls. Senior goalie
Ann Sessler had four saves in the first half for Nazareth and freshman
Shelby Robinson had six saves in the second half.
