ROCHESTER, NY – Nazareth Women's Lacrosse fell to St. John Fisher, 21-4, on the road, as the Cardinals used a strong first half to build a lead and maintain control throughout the contest.
How It Happened:
- St. John Fisher opened the game with steady pressure, capitalizing on multiple free position opportunities to take a 2-0 lead midway through the first quarter. After adding another, Nazareth responded at 3:02 as Gwen Newtown converted on a free position attempt to get the Golden Flyers on the board and make it 3-1.
- The Cardinals answered quickly with two late goals to close the quarter, extending their lead to 5-1 after one.
- In the second quarter, St. John Fisher continued to build momentum, scoring three straight goals early to stretch the lead to 8-1. Nazareth broke through at 9:13 when Haley Dennison finished a play assisted by Allie Klestinec, cutting the deficit to 8-2. However, the Cardinals responded with a strong run, adding three more goals before halftime to take an 11-2 lead into the break.
- St. John Fisher maintained control in the third quarter, scoring five unanswered goals to extend the lead to 16-2, including multiple conversions off free position chances.
- The Cardinals added two more early in the fourth quarter before Nazareth found some late offense. Amber Enright scored a man-up goal at 7:45, and Grace Gardner followed with a free position goal at 2:49 to make it 20-4. St. John Fisher added one final goal late to secure the 21-4 victory.
