Ithaca downs Nazareth 80-62

ROCHESTER, NY - Visiting Ithaca College defeated Nazareth 80-62 to remain undefeated in the Empire 8 conference.  The Bombers improve to 12-0, 17-4 while the Golden Flyers fall to 4-9, 10-12.

The teams battled back and forth early in the first with five lead changes.  Nazareth led by as many as six points with 9:58 left in the first half when Kylie Bartlett scored her first of two three-pointers to give the Flyers a 21-15 lead.  The Bombers then held Nazareth scoreless for six minutes while going on a 15-point run to regain the lead 30-21.

Brittany Wilson ended Nazareth's dry spell with two made free throws at 3:36 followed by a layup at 1:54 to pull the Flyers back within five, 30-35.  Ithaca's Katherine Bixby hit two of her game-high 17 points to extend the lead by seven for the Bombers and Jordan Confessore added a free throw to put Ithaca up eight with :15 remaining in the half.  Mary Holland hit a three pointer with five seconds left to cut the lead back to five, 33-28 at halftime.

The Bombers never trailed in the second half.  Nazareth came within three points, 38-35, with 18:45 remaining but Ithaca held the Flyers scoreless for over four minutes while going on a 14 point run to take a commanding 17 point lead, 52-35.  The Bombers led by as much as 26 points, 68-42 with 7:54 remaining in the game. 

Ithaca shot 51% from the field in the second half and were led by Bixby and Lindsay Brown who both finished with 17 points.  Elissa Klie had 14 and Jordan Confessore finished with 11.  The Bombers out-rebounded Nazareth 42-34 and had 12 steals. 

Nazareth was led by Wilson who finished with 17 points and six rebounds.  Wilson was 7-of-10 from the field and 3-for-4 from the line.  Kylie Bartlett finished with 12 points and also had two assists and one block.  Jenee Vanderstyne finished with seven points and three assists while Rachel Pirozzolo finished with five for the Golden Flyers.

The Golden Flyers travel to RIT on Tuesday, February 9 for a 6 p.m. conference game.  They return home on February 16 to face rival St. John Fisher at 6 p.m.
