Robby Castor was Nazareth's top competitor Saturday as the Golden Flyers men's women's indoor track and field teams competed at the Saints Indoor Invitational at St. Lawrence University's Newell Field House.
Castor finished sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:00.78. Senior
Dave Patalano placed 12th in the 500-meter run (71.95) and junior
Matt Morales was 12th in the 1,000-meter run (2:50.77).
In the women's competition, senior
Melissa Cutcliffe was a first-place finisher in the long jump with a winning leap of 5.09 meters, which equals 16 feet, 8 1/2 inches to win the event by more than nine inches.
Other top performances for the women's team included a ninth-place finish by sophomore
Evelyn DeSantis in the 500-meter run (1:29.00) and a 10th-place finish by sophomore
Michelle Rombach in the same event (1:30.63). Junior
Sarah Wilcox finished 10th in the 1,000-meter run (3:32.65) and was followed closely by teammate
Michelle Gillette in 12th place (3:39.74).
Freshman
Keaghlan Morrissey finished 12th in the 55-meter hurdles (9.91) and freshman
Kelsey Mash finished 17th and 18th respectively in the 800-meter and 1-mile runs. with times of 2:39.02 and 6:00.48.
