WALTHAM, MASS. -- Brandeis scored two second half goals to defeat the Golden Flyers 3-1 in a non-conference women's soccer game in Waltham, Massachusetts. Freshman
Sarah Baluta scored Nazareth's lone goal to temporarily tie the score 1-1 late in the first half.
With the victory, Brandeis remains undefeated with a 2-0 record. The Golden Flyers drop to 1-2 on the season following the loss.
Tiffany Pacheco opened the scoring for the Judges in the fifth minute as she scored off a pass by Mimi Theodore. Baluta put Nazareth on the board in the 39th minute to tie the game, 1-1. Baluta's goal was set up by a service from junior

Brandeis began the second half with a quick goal to reclaim the lead in the 47th minute. Melissa Gorenkoff crossed the ball to Pacheo, who headed the ball to Ali Theodore. Theodore's goal gave the Judges the lead for the remainder of the game. Sofia Vallone added an insurance goal for Brandeis in the 60th minute to give the Golden Flyers a two-goal deficit.
Junior
Hillary Simon started in goal for Nazareth and played the first 67:42 of the game. Simon allowed the Judges' three goals and was credited with five saves. Senior
Polly Muehlenkamp played the final 22:18 in net, but was not forced to make a save. Hillary Rosenzweig started in goal for Brandeis and played the first half, allowing Nazareth's goal and making one save. Jaclyn Weinstein played the second half in goal for the Judges and earned the victory. The Golden Flyers' offense did not force Weinstein to make a save in the second half.
Brandeis held a 15-8 advantage in shots, and Nazareth had a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks.
"In many respects we played better than we did Saturday (in a 3-0 win at MIT)," said Nazareth Coach
Gail Mann. "We had some defensive breakdowns that cost us."
The Golden Flyers are in action Saturday, September 12th for a non-conference game at Brockport. Nazareth opens its Empire 8 schedule September 16th at Alfred.
