ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Junior Erica Conte scored with 1:15 remaining in the second overtime period to lead host Nazareth to a 2-1 non-conference victory over Hamilton Saturday afternoon. Junior Hillary Simon finished with four saves for the Golden Flyers.

With the victory, Nazareth improves to 3-2-1 overall. The Continentals fall to 2-2 following the loss.

During the first half, the Golden Flyers outshot Hamilton 12-6, but were unable to find the back of the net. Hamilton had one of the best opportunities to score in the final minutes of the half, but Anne Graveley's shot hit the crossbar.

Junior Rachel Piemonte put Nazareth on the board in the 68th minute. After receiving a pass down the right wing from Conte, Piemonte dribbled the ball into the box and put a shot into the left side of the net to give the Golden Flyers a 1-0 lead.

Graveley answered for Hamilton with under 10 minutes remaining in regulation. Alex Rimmer sent a ball through the Nazareth defense to Graveley. Graveley dribbled to the side of the defender and sent a shot through the hands of Simon to tie the score, 1-1.

The teams traded opportunities through the end of regulation and overtime before Conte's shot found the back of the net. Conte dribbled the ball just outside the top of the box around the Hamilton defender, then ripped a left-footed shot over goalkeeper Hailey Bobin and just under the crossbar.

Kate Fowler played the first 73:48 in goal for the Continentals, recording six saves and allowing Piemonte's goal. Bobin played the final 34:57 in net and was credited with one save.

The Golden Flyers finished with a 26-16 advantage in shots and an 8-0 advantage in corner kicks.

Nazareth hosts St. John Fisher, Wednesday, September 23rd at 4 p.m. in an Empire 8 Conference game.
