ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Nazareth softball team (12-12 overall) dropped a pair of Empire 8 Conference games to St. John Fisher (21-7) on Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flyers lost game one 4-3 and lost game two 5-3.
Junior Lisa Nazarenko supplied the offense in both games for the Golden Flyers, hitting three home runs. Her first two came in game one -- a solo shot in the fifth and a two-run blast in the seventh inning -- to account for all three Nazareth runs.
.Amanda Shevchuk earned the win on the mound for Fisher, allowing four hits and three runs in the complete-game win. Freshman Kelly Kocher took the loss for the Golden Flyers and struck out seven Cardinals over seven innings.
In game two, Nazarenko started on the pitcher's mound and took the loss by giving up five hits with three strikeouts over five innings. She also was 3-for-3 at the plate with a solo homer in the fourth inning.
Junior Kelley Horbal had two solid singles for the Golden Flyers, including one to lead off the seventh inning. She scored ahead of junior Laura Finan, who slugged a two-run homer for Nazareth's final runs.
Fisher was ahead thanks to three runs in third inning and two more in the fifth.
The Golden Flyers are back in action on Sunday, as they travel to RIT to play the Tigers in a pair of Empire 8 contests beginning at 1 p.m.
