VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. -- Nazareth dropped its first women's soccer match of the season Sunday as Salisbury scored twice late in the first half to rally past the Golden Flyers for a 2-1 victory.
The was played as part of the Orthropedic Associates of Virginia Classic hosted by Virginia Wesleyan. Nazareth is 1-1 overall after knocking off Virginia Wesleyan, 2-1 in overtime, Saturday.
Against Salisbury, Nazareth took a 1-0 lead in the 13th minute as
Rachel Cushman (Irondequoit HS/Rochester, NY) scored off an assist from
Meagan Rivera (Penfield HS/Fairport, NY). Salisbury then netted the tying goal in the 27th minute and the game-winner seven minutes after that.
Nazareth's 16-11 shooting advantage included a 9-3 edge in the second half, but the Golden Flyers could not secure the game-tying goal. Sophomroe goalie

Nazareth hosts its own tournament next weekend. The Golden Flyers play Denison at 11 a.m. Saturday and Allegheny at 2 p.m. Sunday. William Smith also will be competing.
