CUMULATIVE STATSROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Nazareth defeated visiting Elmira 12-2 in an Empire 8 conference lacrosse game Saturday afternoon. The Golden Flyers' victory was thanks to a strong defensive effort and a balanced scoring attack as Nazareth had 10 different players record at least one goal. Sophomore
Nora Davis led the Golden Flyers as she tallied two goals and two assists.
With the victory, Nazareth improves to 6-2 overall and remains unbeaten in the Empire 8 with a 4-0 record. The Soaring Eagles drop to 2-5 overall and fall to 0-4 in conference games.
Davis gave the Golden Flyers a 1-0 lead as she scored 1:35 into the game after receiving a pass from sophomore
Jennifer Young. Nazareth stretched its lead to 3-0 after Young and freshman
Michelle Cook each tallied one goal. Elmira cut the Golden Flyers' lead to 3-1 after Lauren Mokes scored with 16:44 to play in the first half. Nazareth, however, took control of the game after Mokes's goal. Davis, and juniors Katie Schneeberger and
Shannon Lattimore each scored before halftime to extend the Golden Flyers' lead to 6-1 at the break.
Nazareth secured its victory early in the second half after recording two quick goals. Cook received a pass from Davis to put the Golden Flyers ahead 7-1, then freshman
Sarah McCaskill connected on a free position shot to increase Nazareth's lead to 8-1 with 23:15 remaining in the game. After a goal from Elmira's Perry Markell, the Golden Flyers finished the game with four straight goals. Sophomore

Chelsey Amidon, and
Kara Kulba each found the back of the net in the final 10:14 to give Nazareth the 12-2 victory.

Maria Fusco made one save and earned the victory for Nazareth while sophomore
Ann Sessler added three saves. The Soaring Eagles' Jalene McCulloch finished with eight saves.
The Golden Flyers held an advantage in shots (26-10) and ground balls (23-18), but Elmira held an edge in draw controls (10-6).
