ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Student-athletes from Nazareth and St. John Fisher teamed up this year to raise more than $15,000 for the Golisano Children's Hospital at Strong.
For the third year in a row, the schools took part in the Battle of the Beaks fundrasing campaign with all proceeds from the two Nazareth-Fisher basketball games (Jan. 24 and Feb. 18 this year) donated to the children's hospital. In addition, student-athletes participated in the Winter Walk for Strong Kids on Feb. 5. That event alone, sponsored by Fairport Savings Bank, Tim Horton's and Grizzly Graphics, raised abut $5,200.
The event began with a kid-friendly walk around the Nazareth campus and also featured arts, crafts and indoor athletic activities. The final fundraiser will be March 3 when Nazareth hosts its annual student-athlete semiformal.
