Erie, Pa. -- St. Mary's of Maryland outscored Nazareth 49-33 in the second half Friday to erase a one-point halftime deficit and defeated the Golden Flyers in the men's basketball season opener for both teams, 90-75.

The game was played as part of the Penn State Behrend Tip-Off Tournament. The Golden Flyers will play Saturday in the consolation game at 1 p.m. St. Mary's will play the winner of the Penn State Behrend-Bethany game at 3 p.m.

Nazareth senior Jeff DeHimer scored a career-high 25 points on 12-for-18 shooting, but that couldn't offset St. Mary's, who had five players reach double digits in points.

The Golden Flyers led for much of the first half and were up by as many as seven points, 20-13, after a basket by DeHimer with 11:36 left in the half. The Seahawks went ahead by one, 41-40, on a basket by Alex Franz with :50 left in the half, but Nazareth's Corey McAdam made a jumper with :31 left to give the Golden Flyers a one-point lead, 42-41, at the half.

The lead bounced back and forth in the first five minutes of the second half before the Seahawks grabbed the lead for good, 55-53, on a basket by Camontae Griffin with 14:35 left. The Golden Flyers were still within two, 72-70, after DeHimer scored with 7:17 left. St. Mary's then outscored the Golden Flyers 18-5 the rest of the way to win by 15.

DeHimer had six rebounds in addition to his 25 points while Corey McAdam finished with 20 points and nine assists. Senior Ryan McAdam added 14 points, shooting 30-for-70 from the field.

Griffin led the balanced St. Mary's attack with 18 points and Calvin Wise added 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
