NEW YORK -- Nazareth's women's volleyball team recorded a pair of three-set victories Saturday to salvage a 3-1 weekend at the New York State Challenge hosted by New York University.
The Golden Flyers improved to 20-14 overall with wins over Plattsburgh (25-15, 25-20, 25-22) and Hunter (25-16, 25-13, 25-20). Nazareth opened the tournament Friday by splitting two four-set matches with NYU and Mount St. Mary.
Against Plattsburgh, Nazareth used a balanced attack to produce a .277 hitting percentage. Sophomore

Amy Johnson each had nine kills and sophomore
Chelsea Beecher had eight. Senior
Aubrey Cooke posted 35 assists and senior
Brittany Crocetti had 29 digs and four service aces.
Nazareth also had a .277 hitting percentage against Hunter as the Golden Flyers cruised to an easy win. Sophomore
Kassandra Buseck had eight kills in 11 swings and Cooke combined 27 assists with 10 digs.
Next up the Golden Flyers is the Empire 8 Conference Tournament Saturday and Sunday at Elmira. As the fourth seed, the Golden Flyers will face top-seeded Elmira in Saturday's semifinal match at 12 p.m. Ithaca and Stevens meet in the other semifinal with the finals set for Sunday at 12 p.m.
