ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Visiting Hobart scored three unanswered goals in a 10-minute stretch late in the second half Sunday and the Statesmen went on to take a 4-1 men's soccer victory over Nazareth in the second day of the Doug May Classic at Golden Flyer Stadium.

The victory was the second of the weekend for the 12th-ranked Statesmen, who improved to 2-0. The Golden Flyers lost for the second straight day and are 0-2 overall.

Hobart sophomore Tommy Hayes had a foot in all four Hobart goals, scoring twice and assisting on the other two. Hayes worked the end-line in the 74th minute and sent a cross to the middle for teammate Grant Morrison, who drilled a shot into the back of the net for the go-ahead goal.

Eight minutes later, Hayes assisted Tony Yeboah on a key insurance goal as the Statesmen went up 3-1. Then, less than two minutes after that, Hayes stole a pass from a Nazareth defender and scored unassisted to make the final 4-1.

Hayes put Hobart up 1-0 in the 42nd minute after settling a through pass from Caetano Sanchez. The Golden Flyers tied the score in the 61st minute as sophomore Andrew Alaimo pushed in a corner kick off the foot of senior Christopher Löfgren.

Nazareth had a great chance to take the lead in the 71st minute, but Hobart goalie Charlie Hale deflected a header by Nazareth's Raymond Touchstone following another corner kick by Löfgren.

Hobart had advantages in shots (13-9) and corner kicks (7-3). Hale made two saves. Nazareth's Trey Barresi had three.

Nazareth plays again Wednesday in a non-conference game at Buffalo State at 4 p.m.
