A standout player for the Golden Flyers, Mohammed Ahamed makes the transition to assistant coach at Nazareth for 2010.
Ahamed completed a brilliant playing career last fall after earning first-team Empire 8 Conference all-star honors three times. He earned All-American honors in 2006 as the Golden Flyers' starting sweeper, then missed the following season with a knee injury.
Ahamed returned to action and split time between midfield and sweeper in '08 and '09. He served as team captain last fall and helped the Golden Flyers to an 11-5-2 overall record, including a 5-0-2 mark in conference play and the regular-season E8 title.
Born in Ghana, Ahamed played scholastically at Martin Luther King High School in Manhattan. He graduated from Nazareth in 2010 with a degree in Business Administration.
