Pete McCabe joined the Nazareth training staff in 2012 as a full-time assistant athletic trainer. He has worked primarily with Nazareth's ice hockey team, which started intercollegiate play in 2012.
McCabe relocated from Providence to Rochester after serving as a certified athletic trainer at Ullucci Sports Medicine and Physical Therapy, where he provided training coverage for Brown University athletics as well as area high schools.
McCabe is a 2007 graduate of SUNY Cortland, where he earned a degree in Athletic Training. He went on to gain a Master's degree in Health and Human Performance from Canisius College in 2009.
In addition to working at Ullucci Sports Medicine, McCabe has experience as an intern with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers of the National Football League. He also has had training assignments at Niagara University and AthletiCare of the Catholic Health System, where he worked with various high schools in the Buffalo area. He is a member of the Eastern Athletic Trainers Association, New York State Athletic Trainers Association and the National Athletic Trainers Association.
McCabe has earned several athletic training certifications, including that of an ImPACT Trained Athletic Trainer; Concussion Management Specialist through Sports Medicine Concepts; Performance Enhancement Specialist and Corrective Exercise Specialist through the National Academy of Sports Medicine; and CPR, AED and First Aid Instructor through the American Red Cross.
He also participates annually in West Point Academy baseline concussion testing through the MCAA/DoD Grand Alliance, Research and Education CARE Grant. He also works with several National Football League teams and outreach Athletic Training facilities.
