Jake Burgio

In just two seasons as the first full-time men's and women's golf coach after being hired in July of 2023, Jake Burgio has bolstered the profile of both programs.

2024-25 marked a banner year for the Golden Flyers, highlighted by Lincoln Crosby being named the Empire 8 Player of the Year on the men's side and Kayla Ringler winning the individual championship at the Empire 8 Women's Golf Invitational at Locust Hill. Crosby won the Empire 8 Championship individual title with a 4-day total of 302 (+14). He was the was the only Empire 8 golfer with four rounds in the 70s. Ringler was the champion with an 86 (+14).

The Nazareth women's team cruised to the Empire 8 Women's Golf Invitational championship in the fall, carding a 373 (+85) at Locust Hill. Nazareth also won the Keuka Fall Invite and the Nazareth Spring Invite. Kayla Ringler was named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District team.

For the men's team, Nazareth took second place at the Empire 8 Championships with a 4-day total of 1266 (+114) and had four all-conference players. The Golden Flyers won the Keuka Fall Invite, along with the Nazareth Fall and Spring Invites. Colin Rider was a CSC Academic All-District honoree. 

In 2023-24, Burgio helped churn out a pair of Empire 8 All-Conference awards and the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year Lincoln Crosby. Both Kayla Ringler and Thomas McIntosh earned CSC All-District honors and the duo of Ringler and Vincent Falgiatano won Medalist honors at tournaments for Nazareth.

The 2019 graduate of Nazareth took over the reins of the golf program after teaching for the last three years and serving as a part-time assistant coach for the men's basketball program.
 
Burgio played varsity golf at Brockport High School where he helped lead the program to a division championship in his senior campaign. Since competing in high school, Burgio has continued to develop his golf skills and knowledge of the game and is currently a member at Stafford Country Club.
 
Jake pursued men's basketball at Nazareth where he was a standout player for four seasons, amassing 1,178 career points earning first team all-conference twice. In 2017-18, he helped the Golden Flyers capture the Empire 8 title and a berth to the NCAA Tournament. He ranks among Nazareth's career leaders in rebounds (690), field goal percentage (.560) and blocked shots (102).
 
As an assistant coach for the men's basketball team since 2022, Burgio works closely with player development and creates workouts to help members reach their potential. Nazareth won Empire 8 championship in his first year as an assistant coach.

Burgio earned his Bachelor's degree in Psychology with Inclusive Childhood/Early Childhood Education from Nazareth. He most recently served as a Special Education teacher at Rochester Prep West Campus.
