Dennis Walker, a local product with ties to the Rochester-area basketball scene for more than three decades, joined the Nazareth basketball coaching staff for the 2021-22 season. He was named a full-time assistant for the 2023-24 season.Â
Coach Walker's duties include on the floor coaching, recruiting and scouting, and game preparation.
The Rochester native has helped the Golden Flyers compile a record of 45-11 over the past two seasons. In his first year, the Golden Flyers won the Empire 8 Championship and won one game in the NCAA men's basketball tournament.
Walker played high school basketball at Irondequoit and was a Monroe County League all-star there. He moved on to become team captain at Genesee Community College, where he played for local coaching legend Bill Van Gundy.
In 2012, Walker started and coached an AAU program called the Monroe County All-Stars, from which several players earned college basketball scholarships. The program has evolved into a training program for players at all levels.
Walker lives in Rochester and works as an Independent Medicare Broker.
