Scholastic: a graduate of DeRuyter Central, Custer was a volleyball standout there. . . named state Player of the Year for Class D and was a two-time all-state selection as well as a three-time Central Counties League all-star. . . holds DeRuyter career records for kills (523), aces (367), assists (857), digs (402) and blocks (161). . . also excelled in track, earning team MVP honors four times. . . set school record and Madison County meet record with a triple jump leap of nearly 35 feet. . . also part of two school relay records. . . also played four seasons of soccer . . . recipient of Section Three scholar-athlete award.
