GENESEO, NY (
nazathletics.com) – The Nazareth women's soccer team (5-2-1, 3-1) traveled to the campus of the SUNY Geneseo Knights (3-3-3, 1-1-2) on Wednesday, where they picked up a 3-1 conference victory.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The intensity of the match wasted no time presenting itself, with each team picking up early fouls and trading possession.
- Just 9 minutes into the opening half, Nazareth's attack broke through as Savannah Biehler found Carolina Lott-Diamond to get the scoring started.
- The 1-0 goal opened the flood gates early, as it only took the Knights 7 minutes to respond with the tying goal before Biehler, fresh off of a 4-goal game, regained the Golden Flyer lead.
- The two squads tightened up defensively after Biehler's 2-1 goal. Neither team dominated the possession for the remainder of the half, as each side committed a few more fouls but the offenses cooled off and Nazareth entered halftime up by a goal.
- The second half began much quieter than the previous, with neither team scoring any goals and Nazareth continuing their physical play. The Golden Flyers picked up 6 straight fouls in the first 15 minutes before cooling off for the remainder of the game.
- With her team already up a goal, Biehler scored yet again, this time from the penalty spot to double the Nazareth lead. The Golden Flyers took a 3-1 stranglehold on the match and tied things down defensively to close it out and secure the win.
