ROCHESTER, NY (
nazathletics.com) - A goal and two assists from
Carolina Lott-Diamond led the Golden Flyers to a 4-1 victory over Elmira on Saturday afternoon at Golden Flyer Stadium. Nazareth improves their overall record to 6-2-1 and 4-1 in Empire 8 play.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Just eight minutes into the game, the Golden Flyers had a great chance to jump out to an early lead. Carolina Lott-Diamond's centering attempt just missed Kiyomi Mastro in front of the Elmira goal, then Mastro picked up the ball and found Giuliana Rodriguez and her shot barely missed.
- In the 22nd minute, Nazareth would capitalize. Lott-Diamond delivered a beautiful through ball to a streaking Rodriguez who made no mistake placing it in the lower right corner to give Nazareth a 1-0 lead.
- Just three minutes later, Lott-Diamond continued her strong half, putting Nazareth up 2-0. She worked her way to the goal on the left side of the box, then chipped a left-footed shot over the goalkeeper to cap off a strong solo effort.
- In the 38th minute, Elmira cut the Nazareth lead in half. Katriana Walls was able to make the first stop on the breakaway, but then the follow-up chance trickled in.
- A solid first half for Nazareth saw them leading in shots 9-5.
- The first half began very defensively as Nazareth was looking to preserve their two-goal lead. However, in the 67th minute, Aubrey Rizzo gave the Golden Flyers the insurance marker. Lott-Diamond played a pass into the box that found Savanna Biehler, who one-touched it over to Rizzo, and she finished it off in the lower right corner.
- In the final minute, Nazareth added on another goal, courtesy of Lauren Richie. Maia Coyle would pick up the lone assist to secure the 4-1 victory for the Golden Flyers.
