Biehler's 4 Goals Power Women's Soccer Past Sage, 5-0

ROCHESTER, NY – (Nazathletics.com) First Year forward Savanna Biehler netted four goals, including three in the first half, as Nazareth rolled past Sage on Saturday 5-0. It was the women's soccer alumni weekend with countless alums back on campus to support the program and head coach Gail Mann coaching in her 34th and final season. Upon the conclusion of the game, the alums joined coach Mann on the field for tribute video on the jumbotron with heartfelt messages from former Purple and Gold players.

Nazareth moves to 4-2-1 on the season and 2-1 in the Empire 8 with the win, while Sage drops to 5-3-1 and 1-3 in the E8.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Nazareth's offense came out blazing, scoring three goals in the first 13:10 of the game, including two from Biehler
  • It took just Beihler just 18 seconds to score the first goal of the game. She beat two defenders and slotted it into the corner
  • For Nazareth's second goal, Beihler got behind the defense with her speed and one-timed a perfectly weighted ball from Kiyomi Mastro at the 11:08 mark
  • Less than two minutes later, Guiliana Rodriguez got in on the scoring, rocketing a left footed shot from 30-yards out, catching the keeper off her line to make it 3-0.
  • Bielher scored her hat trick in the 25th minute. Shannon Sgombick launched a shot of the crossbar that the first year then headed home
  • It was 4-0 at the break
  • The final goal of the game came in the 67th minute from Beilher, another through ball where she got behind the defense.
GAME NOTES
  • It was Nazareth's first hat trick since 2022 when Alexandra Skoda scored three goals against Elmira on October 1.
  • Biehler now has seven goals on the season
  • Nazareth used three keepers in the game, with Katriana Walls starting, making one save. Sophia Aurrecoechea saw 24 minutes of action, making one save in her first collegiate action. Mckenna Kelly also saw her first action, playing nine minutes
  • It was Rodriguez' first goal of the season
  • Nazareth finished the game with a 26-6 edge in shots
