Women’s Lacrosse Routs Keuka, 17-3

ROCHESTER, NY - Both Megan Martin and Gwen Newtown recorded hat tricks to help Nazareth Women's Lacrosse to a dominant 17-3 win against Keuka on Wednesday evening at NLPA Field. With the victory, Nazareth gets back to .500 in the Empire 8, with a 2-2 record and improves to 2-10 overall.

How It Happened:
  • Nazareth jumped on Keuka quickly as Gwen Newtown, Megan Martin, and Grace Gardner would get on the board, just under five minutes in.
  • Two and a half minutes later, Nazareth would go up 4-0, courtesy of Gwen Newtown's second of the game. Keuka would respond right after to cut the lead to 4-1.
  • The Golden Flyers then closed out the first quarter on a 4-0 run, giving them a commanding 8-1 lead. In that span, Gwen Newtown would pick up her third goal of the game.
  • Two more goals in the second quarter from Nazareth helped them take a 10-1 lead into the half. Megan Martin capped off her hat trick and Anna Myers picked up her second of the game.
  • Like the first quarter, Nazareth got the scoring started quickly in the third quarter as Sofia Sherwood scored her first collegiate goal. This ignited a 5-0 Golden Flyer run before Keuka would score to make it 15-2.
  • The Golden Flyers added on two more goals in the fourth quarter, including Makaelynn Neivel's first collegiate goal on a free position to finish off Keuka, 17-3.
