ITHACA, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) – Nazareth Softball (9-7, 5-3) split a non-conference doubleheader on the road against Ithaca College Wednesday afternoon at Kostrinsky Field, rallying late to take game one, 14-10, before falling in a close game two, 6-5.
GAME ONE: NAZARETH 14, ITHACA 10
HOW IT HAPPENED:

Nazareth struck first in the second inning as Ruby Marrapese doubled to spark the rally before Alexis Brown delivered a two-RBI single to give the Golden Flyers a 2-0 lead.

Ithaca answered immediately in the bottom half with three runs on six hits to take a 3-2 advantage, but Nazareth responded in the third when Kaijah Alexander launched a solo home run to even the score.

After Ithaca regained the lead in the third, the Golden Flyers surged ahead in the fourth as Bryanna Moroughan blasted a three-run home run to right field, capping a three-run inning and putting Nazareth in front 6-5.

The Bombers continued to battle back, scoring two in the fourth and adding more in the fifth and sixth to build a 10-6 lead heading into the final inning.

Nazareth mounted a massive comeback in the seventh, erupting for eight runs. The rally featured timely hits and pressure on the bases, highlighted by RBI swings from Morgan Russo and Moroughan, along with a two-RBI double from Brown that gave Nazareth the lead for good.

Ithaca put runners on in the bottom of the seventh, but Nazareth closed the door defensively to secure the 14-10 comeback victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Ithaca opened the scoring in the first with a solo home run, but Nazareth answered in the second as Kaijah Alexander launched a home run to tie the game at 1-1.

The Golden Flyers took control in the third, stringing together multiple hits as Morgan Russo delivered a two-run home run and Bryanna Moroughan followed with an RBI single to build a 4-1 lead.

Nazareth added another run in the fourth on a solo home run from Ashley Bell, extending the advantage to 5-2.

Ithaca chipped away with a run in the fifth before breaking through in the sixth, scoring multiple runs on four hits to take a 5-4 lead and shift momentum.

The Bombers added the go-ahead run in the seventh on an RBI single, creating a 6-5 deficit for Nazareth.

The Golden Flyers were unable to respond in the final frame, leaving the tying run on base as Ithaca held on for the win.
