Box Score 2 HORSEHEADS, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Softball swept its Empire 8 doubleheader on the road against Elmira College Sunday afternoon at Robison Softball Field, earning a dominant 21-2 win in game one before completing the sweep with a 7-1 victory in game two.

GAME ONE: NAZARETH 21, ELMIRA 2 (5 INN.)

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Nazareth opened the scoring in the first as Alexis Brown walked, stole second, and came around to score on an RBI groundout from Kaijah Alexander to take an early 1-0 lead.
- The Golden Flyers broke the game open in the second, erupting for seven runs on four hits while capitalizing on an Elmira error. Kaijah Alexander delivered a two-RBI single, Morgan Russo added an RBI hit, and Haleigh Suitor capped the inning with a two-run single to push the lead to 8-0.
- Elmira got one back in the second and another in the third, but Nazareth continued to apply pressure offensively, adding three runs in the fourth highlighted by RBI hits from Alexander, Russo, and Suitor to extend the lead to 11-2.
- The Golden Flyers put the game out of reach in the fifth with a 10-run inning, sending multiple batters to the plate. The rally featured RBI hits from Alexis Brown, Julia Maciag, and Madison Darling, along with extra-base hits from Bryanna Moroughan and Ashley Bell to make it 21-2.
- Nazareth's pitching and defense closed out the shortened contest, holding Elmira scoreless over the final two innings to secure the run-rule victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Game two opened as a defensive battle, with both teams stranding runners early before Elmira tied the game at 1-1 in the fourth on a passed ball.
- Nazareth broke through in the fourth inning as Ashley Bell tripled down the left field line and later scored on a sacrifice fly from Madison Hicks to give the Golden Flyers the lead.
- The Golden Flyers extended the advantage in the fifth when Haleigh Suitor delivered a two-RBI double down the line, scoring Morgan Russo and Kaijah Alexander to make it 3-1.
- Nazareth added more insurance in the sixth as Bryanna Moroughan drove in two runs with a clutch single up the middle, pushing the lead to 5-1.
- The Golden Flyers continued to tack on runs late, adding two more in the seventh behind RBI singles from Ruby Marrapese and Julia Maciag to build a 7-1 lead.
- In the circle, Nazareth held Elmira scoreless over the final three innings, closing out the sweep with a strong defensive finish.
