OLEAN, NY (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Men's Tennis (0-5, 0-1) fell to Alfred (5-3, 1-0), 6-1, in the team's Empire 8 opener at St. Bonaventure University Saturday afternoon. 

HOW IT HAPPENED 

• Nazareth battled in pairs play but dropped two of three to give up the doubles point, highlighted by Matthew Herb and Antoine Lucier pushing the tightest result at No. 3 before falling 6-4. 
• Herb delivered Nazareth's top performance, earning a 6-4, 6-0 victory at No. 5 singles. 
• Pierre Ntonga showed resilience at No. 2 singles, extending rallies and posting the most competitive second set at 6-4 among the upper lineup.
• Max Funiciello at No. 1 and Nathan Bigelow at No. 3 both faced tough matchups at the top of the lineup as Alfred secured straight-set wins to maintain control.
