ROCHESTER, NY (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Men's Basketball (15-5, 10-2) fell to SUNY Brockport (10-11, 6-6), 81-66, Friday night inside Kidera Gymnasium.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Nazareth traded leads throughout the first half behind scoring from Jaylen Savage and Luke Insley before a late Brockport bucket sent the Golden Flyers into halftime trailing 46-40.
- The Golden Flyers stayed within reach early in the second half as Merritt Holly scored on second chances and Savage continued to find looks, keeping it a two-possession game.
- A cold stretch midway through the half allowed Brockport to push the margin into double figures, 62-52, despite defensive stops from Nazareth.
- Nazareth answered with a short run capped by a Ryan Broderick three to cut the deficit, 62-55, and force a timeout with just over eight minutes left.
- Brockport responded immediately with perimeter scoring to regain control, stretching the lead back to double digits, 71-57.
- Savage, Solomon McFarlane and Owen Boylan connected late, but Nazareth could not close the gap in the final minutes before Brockport claimed the win, 81-66.
GAME NOTES
- Jaylen Savage led the Golden Flyers with 22 points, his sixth performance with 20 or more points this season. He shot 9 of 15 from the floor and 3 of 5 from beyond the arc with four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal.
- Solomon McFarlane recorded 11 points over the Golden Eagles with two assists, two steals and one rebound.
