ONEONTA, NY – Despite a late fourth quarter push, Nazareth came up short as Oneonta held on for an 11-9 win Saturday afternoon. The loss drops Nazareth to 0-3 on the season while Oneonta improves to 1-1.
 
How It Happened:

• Oneonta got on the board first, scoring five minutes into the game. The Golden Flyers would then respond with goals from Gwen Newtown and Megan Martin in just 40 seconds to take a 2-1 lead. 
• Three more goals were scored to end the first quarter, resulting in a 3-3 tie. Grace Gardner scored her team leading fifth goal of the year. 
• Nazareth regained their lead quickly to start the 2nd quarter as Amber Enright scored just 51 seconds in.
• Oneonta responded with a five goal run in a five minute span to take an 8-4 lead into halftime. 
• In the dying minutes of the third quarter, Grace Gardner scored the lone goal of the frame, cutting the deficit to 8-5.
• However, Oneonta answered just minutes later, restoring its four goal cushion.
• Nazareth mounted a comeback to get the game within two goals but it proved to be too little too late as Oneonta held on to win, 11-9. The goals were scored by Megan Martin, Grace Gardner, and Briana Panko. 

Game Notes:

• Grace Gardner recorded her second hat trick of the season and added two assists
• Gwen Newtown and Briana Panko each had one goal and one assist
• Megan Martin registered her first career hat trick
• Amber Enright recorded her first goal of the season
• This game was the first meeting against the two teams since 2001
