ROCHESTER, NY – It was much of the same for the fifth-ranked Nazareth women's hockey team on Sunday in its first game of 2026 as it dropped Salve Regina 2-1 to remain unbeaten on the season. The Golden Flyers move to 12-0 on the year, while Salve Regina drops to 6-6.
How it Happened:
- A flurry of shots was capped off by Logan Marchese smacking in a rebound with 2:47 left in the opening period to give the hosts a 1-0 lead. Assists were credited to Meredith Boettcher and Brooke Judkiewicz.
- After a scoreless second period, Nazareth took a penalty early in the third. The Golden Flyers responded with a strong penalty kill to keep the Seahawks off the board.
- Nazareth upped its lead to 2-0 near the midway point when Charlotte Crudale chipped a pass on the boards to Judkiewicz. Judkiewicz found a streaking Ella Cedrone for a one-timer.
- A rip from the point made its way through late in the contest for the Seahawks to help pull within 2-1 with 1:34 remaining.
- Nazareth faced three more shots down the stretch but was able to close out the game.
- Mia Gonsalves made 17 saves in net to earn her 12th victory.
Game Notes
- The goal for Marchese was her third of the season.
- Cedrone netted her fourth goal of the season.
