Men’s Hockey Ties with Elmira, 4-4

 ROCHESTER, NY - The Golden Flyers and Soaring Eagles played a very tightly contested game, ending in a 4-4 tie on Friday night. Elmira won in the shootout to get the extra point, while Nazareth takes away 1 point.The Golden Flyers now sit at 10-6-3 overall and 3-5-1 in UCHC play.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The first period wouldn't see too many chances for either side, despite each team earning a powerplay. However, in the last minute, Elmira would capitalize on a two on one, making it 1-0.
  • The first period shot total would favor Elmira, 8-6. 
  • The second period was nothing like the first, seeing six penalties given to each side in a hectic 20 minutes of hockey.
  • The Golden Flyers would strike first in the second, tying the game at 1-1. Charles Ross buried the puck home in a scrum in front of the net. The assists were awarded to Will Halecki and Blake Frost
  • Seven minutes later, Elmira responded with a power play goal to take the lead back at 2-1.
  • With seven minutes remaining, Mathieu Fehr would draw a five minute penalty on Elmira, where Nazareth would capitalize with a beautiful passing play. Logan Tobias found Antoine Lucier driving down the middle who zipped it over to Will Halecki, who buried it. 
  • Just three minutes later, Will Halecki would find the net again, this time tipping in a point shot from Andrew Miller to give Nazareth the 3-2 lead. Blake Frost would pick up the secondary assist. 
  • The shots after two periods would show Nazareth in front, 25-15.
  • Six minutes into the final frame, Elmira would score another one to tie the game, 3-3. 
  • With just over five minutes remaining, Blake Frost would drive the net generating a nice rebound that Antoine Lucier was able to drive home to give the Golden Flyers a late 4-3 lead.
  • A few minutes later, Elmira would score a power play goal and tie the game, 4-4. Forcing the game to overtime.
  • Overtime would solve nothing and the game would go into a shootout.
  • The shots would end with Nazareth leading 44-27
