NORTHFIELD, VT – Nazareth claimed the Norwich Tournament Championship on Saturday afternoon with a 4-3 overtime victory in a thriller against SUNY Cortland. The Golden Flyers and Red Dragons traded goals until senior Logan Tobias sealed the victory just 10 seconds into overtime. Nazareth improves to 9‑4‑1 on the year with the weekend sweep.

How It Happened:

  • Just around the midway point of the game, Kai Shen would give the Golden Flyers the lead 1-0. One assist was credited to Hudson Nadasdi
  • However, four and a half minutes later, Cortland responded with a powerplay goal to tie things 1-1.
  • With under two minutes to go in the second frame, Nazareth would get a powerplay goal of their own as Jason Shafer tallied his first of the season with assists from Will Halecki and Cameron Bauer.
  • The second period would end with Nazareth holding a 2-1 lead.
  • Cortland would respond again early into the third period, scoring another powerplay goal to tie it 2-2.
  • They would continue to trade goals, as Blake Frost scored for the Golden Flyers to reclaim the lead, 3-2. Assists were credited to Logan Tobias and Antoine Lucier.
