Field Hockey Ousts Keuka, 7-1

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Field Hockey (5-3, 2-0) defeated Keuka (0-7, 0-2), 7-1, Friday night at NLPA Field for the team's second straight Empire 8 victory to open conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Hannah Janes put the Golden Flyers on the board late in first quarter to give the home team a 1-0 edge
  • Nazareth added three goals in the second quarter from Audra Mieczkowski, Michaela Cushman and Kristina Fisher to lead 4-0 heading into halftime
  • Fisher went back-to-back for the Golden Flyers in the third quarter off a pass from Janes to put Nazareth up by five
  • Hanna Barrett registered the Golden Flyers' next goal in the fourth quarter on an assist from Brigh Maczka before Mieczkowski closed out scoring with 10 minutes left in regulation 
  • Keuka notched its sole goal on a penalty stroke late in the final quarter to finalize a 7-1 victory for Nazareth
GAME NOTES
  • Audra Mieczkowski, Kristina Fisher and Hannah Janes led the Golden Flyers with four points
  • Mieczkowski registered two goals in her second consecutive game with her second and fourth quarter scores
  • Fisher netted two goals in the win, the freshman's first career game with multiple scores
  • Janes' two assists and one goal match her season-high four points registered in the team's 4-1 season opening win over Oberlin, her second straight game with multiple assists 
  • Mackenzie Halliday registered a season-high eight saves in her second appearance in goal
