ROCHESTER, NY –
Julia Dietz (1G, 3A) and
Makenna Misiurewicz (3G, 1A) each had four points to help Nazareth hand Buffalo State its first loss of the season, 14-8, on Saturday at NLPA field.
Nazareth moves to 2-2 overall, while Buffalo State falls to 3-1.
The hosts had a great start in the first quarter, netting six goals.
Grace Gardner netted the opening goal and just :43 seconds later,
Sophia Scialdone found the net.
Katherine McPeak buried back-to-back goals, the first on the extra-attacker, to push the lead to 4-0.
Gardner registered her second of the game before the Bengals eventually broke through at the 4:36 mark.
Emily Paddock had the other goal of the period and it was 6-3 at the half.
Dietz and Misiurewicz were on the same page all game, with three goal combinations, including two in the second quarter. It was 9-4 at the half.
Dietz scored her lone goal at the 6:30 mark to make it 12-5 and the Golden Flyers lead was 13-6 heading into the final frame.
Emily Reichard scored the first goal of the quarter, Nazareth's only in the fourth. Buffalo State scored with 10:14 remaining and 2:24.
Allie Klestinec made 11 saves and allowed six goals, while freshman
Gianna Tantalo saw her first collegiate action, making two saves and allowing two goals in 11:54 of action.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to Oswego for a 4 p.m. contest.
