Savage (Player of the Year) and Holly (Rookie of the Year) Rack Up USBWA Rochester Area Recognition

ROCHESTER, NY – The U.S. Basketball Writers Association announced its Rochester Area teams on Wednesday with Luke Insley, Jaylen Savage, and Merritt Holly earning recognition. Savage was tabbed the Player of the Year and Holly the Freshman of the Year. Joining Savage on the First Team was Insley, while Holly was an honorable mention selection.

The list of accolades continues to grow for Savage who earlier in the year was named the Empire 8 Player of the Year. Savage averaged 21.0 points on a 44.7 field goal percentage to go along with 6.1 rebounds, and 1.9 assist per game. 

Insley picks up First Team honors after averaging 10.8 points and 6.7 assists per game. The senior guard is currently second in the nation with a 4.62 assist-to-turnover ration after leading the country in 2023-24.

Holly, who was also the Empire 8 Rookie of the Year, averaged 10.6 points per game on a 63.7 field goal percentage and 7.3 rebounds per game.
