ROCHESTER, NY – Host Nazareth surrendered two late goals and another in overtime to suffer another heartbreaking loss on Saturday against Manhattanville, 4-3. With the loss in overtime, Nazareth earns a point, while Manhattanville garners two.
Nazareth is now 6-13-2 overall and 2-12-2 in UCHC play, while Manhattanville moves to 8-12-1 and 7-8-1, respectively.
The Valiants opened the scoring at the 11:19 mark of the opening period. Nazareth was able to respond less than two minutes later with
Liam Quinlivan picking off a pass at the blue line, beating one defender and converting on a backhander to tie the game at 1-1.
It was 1-1 at the break.
In the second period,
Nate Mann broke through for his fourth goal of the season with less than five minutes remaining to give Nazareth its first lead over the Valiants for the weekend. Mann took a pass in the slot from
Charles Ross and ripped it home.
Anthony Quinlivan nearly scored in the period as well, drilling the post on a shot from the point.
Cole Bauman scored a beauty of a goal midway through the third to push Nazareth's lead to 3-1 off an assist from
Anthony Quinlivan.
The score remained that way until 1:28 remained in the game and the Valiants scored with the goalie pulled to inch within 3-2 on a scrum in front of net.
With the goalie pulled once again, the Valiants tied the game with just :5 seconds on the clock.
Dylan Wiemer who made 36 saves in the loss, made a huge save at the start of OT but the Valiants converted a wrist shot at the 3:01 mark to put the dagger in the Golden Flyers.
Nazareth next hosts Brockport on Friday, February 14 at 7 p.m.
