POTSDAM, NY- The Nazareth women's lacrosse team dropped a tightly contested matchup at Clarkson on Friday, falling 11-10 in a non-conference matchup.
Sophia Scialdone finished with three goals and one assist, while
Allie Klestinec made 15 saves in net.
Nazareth drops to 1-1 on the year, while Clarkson moves to 2-0.
The Golden Flyers led 3-2 after the first quarter with goals from
Grace Gardner,
Liddie Hoare, and
Grace Seither.
In the second quarter after falling behind 4-3,
Katherine McPeak scored off an assist from Gardner. That was followed up by Scialdone's first of the game. It was 5-5 at the half.
Scialdone and
Julia Dietz had tallies in the third quarter as the Golden Flyers trailed 8-7 heading into the final frame.
The hosts built a lead up to 10-7 with eight minutes to play before Scialdone netted her third and
Makenna Misiurewicz scored on the extra-attacker opportunity to pull Nazareth within 10-9 with under five minutes to play.
Clarkson went back up by two with 3:31 to play and Nazareth was not able to score again until McPeak scored her second of the day on the man-up with just :03 seconds to play.
Nazareth returns to action on Wednesday, traveling to RIT for a 4 p.m. contest.Â
