ROCHESTER, NY – The fourth-seeded Nazareth women's basketball team saw its season come to a close on Wednesday night as the Golden Flyers fell 93-86 to top-seeded Brockport in the semifinals of the Empire 8 Championships. Four scorers for the Golden Flyers found double figures, headlined by
Molly Benetti putting home 21 points and grabbing 10 boards for a double-double.
Nazareth finishes the season 20-7, while Brockport moves to 24-3. The Golden Eagles will host second-seeded Geneseo in the Championship game after the Knights defeated St. John Fisher 72-54 on Wednesday night. After a 22-win season in 2023-24, the Golden Flyers followed it up with another 20-win season after previously not having a 20-win season since 1995-96.
The fourth-seed trailed 23-19 after one quarter and 45-39 at halftime.
The Golden Flyers dug too far of a hole after three quarters as Brockport led 67-51. From there, the closest Nazareth would get would be the final score, 93-86.
Sophomore
Madalyn Kelly's hot streak continued as she notched double figures for the fifth consecutive game with 19 points on 7-for-17, including 5-for-11 from deep.
Katie MacLachlan had a near double-double with 17 points and nine boards.
Also in double figures was
Payton Littlefield with 14 points.
Sarina McDowell chipped in nine points and eight rebounds.
