PITTSBURGH, PA – Fourth-seeded Chatham scored three third period goals en route to eliminating No. 5 Nazareth in the UCHC Quarterfinals 3-0 on Wednesday night. The game was the final behind the benches for head coach
George Roll.
Nazareth finishes the season 8-16-2, while Chatham moves to 10-14-2 and advance to the semifinals.
Roll's hockey long hockey career spanned 37 years, including 28 as a head coach. He began as a head coach at Oswego State from 1996-2003, before coaching at Division 1 Clarkson from 2003-2011, and beginning the Nazareth men's hockey program in 2012. In all, Roll collected 367 career wins, including 118 as a Golden Flyer.
After a scoreless two periods, it was the Cougars who found the back of the net on an even strength goal 3:29 into the period.
Nazareth had a golden opportunity at the 7:31 mark when a contact to the head resulted in a five-minute power play. Unfortunately, the lone goal scoring on the power play came short-handed from the Cougars near the midway point of the penalty.
Chatham tallied the third and final goal of the game with seven minutes remaining.
