GENESEO, NY - On Friday evening, Nazareth men's hockey traveled to SUNY Geneseo to compete in the last away game of the regular season where they were defeated 9-1.
Antoine Lucier was Nazareth's lone goal scorer.
Nazareth is now 7-15-2 overall and 3-14-2 in the conference, while Geneseo improved to 20-3-1 overall and 16-2-1 in the conference.
Geneseo took a swing early with a goal just two minutes into play and added another about midway through the first period to make the score 2-0 by the end of the first.
The second period is where the Knights really opened the game up with six additional goals to go up 8-0 on the Golden Flyers.
At the 8:20 mark of the third period, Nazareth was finally able to get on the board with a goal from Lucier off of assists from
Charles Ross and
Cole Bauman. The game ended with one final goal from Geneseo and a total score of 9-1 in favor of the Knights.
Matt Sayles was in the net for the first half of the game and had 15 total saves including nine in the first period alone.
Lincoln Crosby came in halfway through the game and totaled 12 saves including seven in the third period.
The Golden Flyers will be back on the ice on Saturday February 22nd at 7 p..m. for their senior night.
