Field Hockey Well Represented in E8 All-Conference Honors

HILTON, N.Y. (nazathletics.com) - Nazareth Field Hockey capped off a historic 2025 season with a multitude of Empire 8 All-Conference honors released Monday morning.

Michaela Cushman, Audra Mieczkowski, Isabel Porterfield and Lauren Bachner earned first team honors while Avery Tanton followed with a Second Team distinction. Hannah Janes and Kristina Fisher rounded out the All-Conference honors with Third Team nods. Mackenzie Halliday was also named Nazareth's Empire 8 Sportswoman of the Year. 

Sophomore Michaela Cushman recorded her first Empire 8 First Team honor after being named last season's Rookie of the Year and to the Second Team. Cushman set a new Nazareth single-season record with 45 points on 18 goals and nine assists, with her goal total also tying Catherine Willards' program record set in 2015. The sophomore ranked second in the Empire 8 with 2.32 points and .895 goals per game this fall. A two-time Empire 8 Offensive Player of the Week, Cushman registered six multi-goal games this year including a season-high six points over Elmira. 

Senior Audra Mieczkowski earned her second consecutive First Team honor after posting 28 points on 12 goals and four assists this fall. Mieczkowski played a crucial role in the Golden Flyers offense and defense, acting as Nazareth's go two on both sides of penalty corners. The senior netted two or more goals in three games, including a season-best nine five points on two goals and one assist against Elmira. 

Junior Isabel Porterfield took home her first Empire 8 First Team nod after being named to the Third Team last season. Porterfield started in all 20 games at midfield for the Golden Flyers this fall, netting 21 points on eight goals and five assists. Porterfield was a key contributor on both sides of the ball for Nazareth this season, helping drive the Golden Flyers transition from the defensive zone to the team's offensive end. The junior led Nazareth to two wins in the Empire 8 Championship with a career-high six points in the quarterfinal against Brockport and the overtime gamewinner in the semifinal round at Hartwick. 

Senior Lauren Bachner recorded the team's fourth and final First Team honor after her impressive season in goal.. A three-time Empire 8 Defensive Player of the week, Bachner registered 14 victories and seven shutouts as Nazareth's goalkeeper. The senior recorded 149 saves this fall to rank first in the Empire 8 with a .842 saves percentage. She also sits within the top five goalies in the conference for goals against average, shutouts per game and saves per game. Bachner tallied double-digit assists in seven games, including a season-high 18 against Rochester. 

Senior Avery Tanton earned her first career Second Team nod after being named to the Third Team as a freshman. Starting in all 20 games for Nazareth this season, Tanton led the Golden Flyers with five defensive saves for fourth best in the conference. 

Graduate student Hannah Janes claimed a spot on the Empire 8's Third Team after competing in all 20 of Nazareth's games this fall. Janes ranked second on the Golden Flyers with 31 points on 12 goals and seven assists. She sat sixth in the Empire 8 with .650 goals per game and ninth with .350 assists per game. Janes registered two or more points in 11 games for Nazareth, including a season-high five on two goals and an assist over Morrisville. The graduate student also led the Golden Flyers with five game-winning goals for third best in the conference. 

Freshman Kristina Fisher rounded out Nazareth's All-Conference honors as a Third Team selection. Starting in all 20 games for the Golden Flyers this fall, Fisher collected 13 points on six goals and one assist in her first collegiate season. Fisher posted two multi-goal games with two scores each in games over Keuka and Morrisville. 

Senior Mackenzie Halliday was named Nazareth's representative on the Sportsperson of the Year Team. One member of each team was named that institution's representative on the 2054 E8 Field Hockey Sportsperson of the Year Team. The Empire 8 Conference emphasizes that "Competing with Honor and Integrity" is an essential component of a student-athlete's experience in conjunction with an institution's educational mission. These honorees have distinguished themselves and consistently exhibit the critical traits as outstanding sportsperson.
