ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth men's cross country team finished fifth of 11 teams on Saturday at the Empire 8 Championships hosted at the Murphy Field Cross Country Course at St. John Fisher. Senior
Connor Jackson was the top finisher for the Golden Flyers, taking 12
th place over the 8k course in 27:12.3.
How it Happened:
- Geneseo was the champion with 24 points, followed by Utica (72), Houghton (82), Brockport (102), Nazareth (114), St. John Fisher (174), Alfred (184), Hartwick (266), SUNY Poly (300), Sage (303), and Keuka (312).
- Right behind Jackson was senior Cameron Almy in 13th, clocking a 27:14.1.
- A trio of freshman were the final scorers for Nazareth headlined by Kaedan Leonidas who was 32nd in 28:08.7. Rylan Powell was 37th in 28:28.6, followed by Grady Engelbert in 38th in 28:31.0
- Michael Naylor was 45th in 28:49.4 and Brennan Farr was 49th in 29:08.6
- Colin Francis was 51st in 29:24.8, Edward Popp 53rd in 29:27.1, and Joseph Cataldo was 54th in 29:29.5.
Meet Notes:
- Jackson (12th place) made a huge jump from the 2024 Empire 8 Cross Country championships where he placed 40th
- Almy also had a significant jump from his 2024 E8 Championship, jumping from 51st to 13th
