UTICA, NY – Junior
Michaela Cushman netted the game-winning goal as the Nazareth field hockey team went on the road to defeat Utica 2-1 on Wednesday night.
Hannah Janes was the other goal scorer in the game as Nazareth improved to 7-4 overall and 4-1 in league play, while Utica drops to 2-7 and 1-3, respectively.
How it Happened:
- Nazareth registered the only shots of the first quarter and needed just 3:40 into the game to get on the board
- Cushman backhanded a pass on the left side of the goal towards the center for Janes to knock in tight.
- The scored remained 1-0 into the second half
- Nazareth finished the game with a 17-10 edge in shots and 9-4 margin in penalty corners
- Cushman netted her team-leading 8th goal of the season at 37:42. A long pass from Audra Mieczkowski made its way to the front of the net and Cushman battled through a number of defenders to get the goal
- The Pioneers score less than two minutes later to make it 2-1
- Lauren Bachner made six saves to earn her seventh win of the season

- It was Janes sixth goal of the season, which is third on the team. She is second on the team in points with 12 (6G, 6A)
