Men’s Soccer ties with Utica, 1-1

UTICA, NY - A late goal from Utica in the 87th minute forces a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon. Samuel Burton was the lone goal scorer for the Golden Flyers as they now have a record of 6-4-3 overall and 4-3-1 in Empire 8 play. 
 

How It Happened:

  • The game was physical to begin, as each team committed seven fouls in the first half.

  • Despite being heavily out shot by Utica in the first half, Freshman Samuel Burton was able to get Nazareth on the board in the 32nd minute to make it 1-0. Burton's right footed shot found the top right corner for a beautiful goal. 

  • The first half shots ended with Utica leading 7-2.

  • The second half was more of the same as Utica led in shots, 7-4 but goalkeeper Bryan Tirado stood tall for the Golden Flyers.

  • However, in the 87th minute, Utica was able to break through and force a draw, tying the game 1-1.

  • Nazareth will take on SUNY Poly on Wednesday, October 22nd at Golden Flyer Stadium for a 4 p.m. matchup.
