UTICA, N.Y. - Nazareth women's basketball cruised to another conference win on the road on Friday night, defeating SUNY Poly 58-33. Freshman
Payton Littlefield led the scoring with 18 points.
With the win, Nazareth improved its record to 15-4 overall and 9-1 in the conference while SUNY Poly dropped to 3-15 overall and 2-7 in the conference.
In the first quarter, the game was very back and forth, no one holding a mutliple possession lead until 2 minutes left when Nazareth went up 11-7. However, Poly cut the lead back down to 2 by the end of the quarter.
The second quarter was Nazareth's strongest quarter, shooting 43.75 percent from the field and holding the Wildcats to only six points while the Flyers put up 19. With five minutes and 38 seconds left in the quarter, Nazareth was up only one at 16-15. For those final five minutes, Nazareth held the Wildcats scoreless while going on a 14-0 run, to make the score 30-15 heading into the second half.

Sarina McDowell with six,
Chianna Williams with five,
Leah Fusilli with four, and
Katie MacLachlan,
Molly Benetti, and
Madalyn Kelly all with two.
In the third quarter, the Golden Flyers continued to hold the Wildcats scoreless until the 6:42 mark where SUNY Poly scored its first bucket in almost ten minutes of game play. Over the course of the second half, Nazareth outscored the Wildcats by ten, giving the Golden Flyers the 58-33 win.
Littlefield led the scoring efforts with 18 points, while Benetti led the charge on the boards with 10 rebounds, while also adding two points and two assists. MacLachlan was the next highest scorer with 11 points, six rebounds, five steals, and three assists. Fusilli dropped nine total points and grabbed five rebounds. McDowell added eight points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Williams had five points and six rebounds, while teammate Kelly added four points.
Brayden Schultz was also on the board with one point and a pair of rebounds, while teammate
Madilann Johnson dished out three assists an grabbed two boards.
The Golden Flyers will be back on the floor on February 1 at 2 p.m. at Utica for another conference match-up.
