ROCHESTER, NY – Nazareth's defense along with goalkeeper Annika Monfort weathered a barrage all game from the Saint Lawrence offense and held on for a 1-0 victory on Saturday at Golden Flyer Stadium. Monfort made 13 saves in the game to earn her third-straight shutout to begin the season. She ties the school record with 29 career shutouts, joining Erin Jacobs '98. Tatum Overton scored in the first half for Nazareth.

Annika Monfort
Annika Monfort now has 29 career shutouts, tied for the school record.

Sophomore Shannon Sgombick nearly got the Golden Flyers on the board as she almost caught the goalkeeper off her line in the 21st minute, but her attempt from 30-yards out was tipped over the bar.

Overton scored her third goal of the year in the 44th minute. A St. Lawrence defender headed a ball down and Overton was able to rip the ball out of the air and into the far post to open up the scoring.

It was 1-0 at the half.

The Saints offense generated 16 of their 21 shots for the game in the second half and Monfort was up for the task. The senior goalkeeper and two-time Empire 8 Goalkeeper of the Year made save after save, including nine of her 13 saves in the second half.

Nazareth returns to the pitch on Tuesday, traveling to the University of Rochester at 7 p.m.
