Box Score ONEONTA, NY- Camryn Schiavitti and Lauryn Obey helped the Golden Flyers to a draw (2-2) in their first Empire 8 conference game against the Hartwick College Hawks at Elmore Field.
Nazareth is now 3-2-1, and Hartwick is 3-2-2.
Nazareth's stellar defense held Hartwick to 1 shot in the first half.
Lauryn Obey created a few opportunities on net but the Hawks' defense did not allow the Golden Flyers to convert.
Freshman Emily Berlinski had a ball that found the head of Kiyomi Mastro who took a shot on net that just missed, hitting the crossbar.
The Golden Flyers held the most possession in the first half, allowing them to create opportunities, but they were unable to place the ball in the back of the net.
The game remained scoreless at the end of the first half.
The Hawks scored the first goal of the game off of a corner kick.
Sophomore Camryn Schiavitti, with her first goal of the season, created a tie game (1-1) in the 63rd minute off an assist from Haley Dennison.
In the 69th minute junior Lauryn Obey scored, giving the Golden Flyers a 2-1 lead with an unstoppable left footed shot into the upper right corner of the goal.
The Hawks tied the game 2-2 off of a corner kick and a header into the back of the net.
The game ended in a 2-2 tie.
The Golden Flyers out-shot the Hawks 14-6.
Nazareth returns to action Tuesday at 4 p.m. hosting Alfred for another conference game.
