Women's Soccer Blanks Stevens 1-0

ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth defense and goalkeeper Annika Monfort recorded its second-straight shutout in as many days, with the Golden Flyers downing Stevens 1-0 on Saturday afternoon at Golden Flyer Stadium. Monfort made six saves in the game.
 
Despite Nazareth being out shot 14-8, Nazareth came away with the victory.

Following its 2-0 win over Mount Saint Mary (NY), the Golden Flyers are now 2-0 on the year. Stevens drops to 0-2.
 
Shannon Sgombick capitalized on a misplayed ball by the Stevens defense to score the first goal of the game. After the misplayed ball, Sgombick lofted a shot over the keeper that was off her line to make it 1-0.
 
Nazareth had a miss opportunity with just over a minute to play as a penalty kicked was missed by Grace Palczewski.

The score was 1-0 at the half.
 
In the 74th minute, the Ducks nearly equalized as a shot from far out clanked of the post and out.
 
Nazareth returns to action on Saturday, hosting St. Lawrence at 3 p.m.
