ROCHESTER, NY - Senior Corey McAdam drained a pair of free throws with :07 seconds remaining to help lift the Nazareth men's basketball team 65-64 over St. John Fisher in the 2010 Empire 8 Championship. It was the Golden Flyers second Empire 8 Championship in three seasons.
Third-seeded Nazareth trailed the top seed overall by as many as 12 in the second half, including 54-42 with under 10 minutes to play.
A quick 10-2 run helped, including 3-pointers from McAdam and Phil Scaffidi trimmed the deficit to 56-52 with just over seven minutes to play.
Nazareth eventually took the lead on a McAdam 3-pointer with 4:22 to play, 59-58, before a handful of lead changes.
Trailing by a point with :30 seconds to play, McAdam missed a jump shot but got his own rebound, setting up being fouled with :07 seconds on the clock.
The senior calmly drained the two free throws to earn the dramatic comeback victory.
McAdam finished 9-for-19 for 26 points with three assists and three steals. Scaffidi was the only other play in double figures with 11 points.
The Golden Flyers fell to Medaille 78-72 in the NCAA first round, finishing the season 18-10 overall.
