ROCHESTER, NY – The Nazareth men's basketball team had a historic run from 1983-1987, winning four-straight Chase Lincoln First Tournament Championships. During the four-year run, the Golden Flyers went 87-23, with three NCAA Tournament.
Nazareth defeated Brockport 71-53 in the 1983-84 Chase Lincoln First title game. Lawrence Maroney led all scorers with 30 points.
The following season in 1984-85, Nazareth downed St. John Fisher 82-71 in the title game, with Richard Sparks pouring in 23 points.
Nazareth once again defeated St. John Fisher in the 1985-86 championship game, with a 74-62 triumph. Joe Convertino was the Golden Flyers leading scorer with 21 points.
The final title in 1986-87 was a 90-73 blowout over Brockport. Sparks had 23 points and Convertino 21 points.
